* here he is! *

Jack and Peep are visiting each other after a long time of being apart!
(winter will do that to friendships)
Little Jack is made of paper clay.
A vintage button spruces up his newspaper hat for such a happy affair.
When the sun isn't so bright Jack may remove his hat.
But being that he has no hair it is best he shelter it from the sun.
Peep is also made of paper clay and these friends sit perched on a wooden bench.
They are delighted to be with one another again, and are so busy catching up!
(I would love to know what they are chattering about!)

This little creation (yes even the bench) was all made by me in my little studio.
This piece was inspired by how children can innocently find friends
regardless of how different one might be.

Friendships!

* just thinking *

This little half-pint has taken a moment to ponder!

I have been pondering a lot lately.
It seems that time quickly marches on
before I might see family or friends.
(For some it has been way too long.)

Sometimes it is in the most quietest of moments
we think of those who are most special
and wish it wasn't so long between visits.

May we all have more moments to ponder,
so we may visit more!

* in the eye of the beholder *

I love old things!

 I love to go to antique markets
and
I love the thrill of the hunt!

However, this book I found around 6 months before I decided to buy it.
The book is "Art Monograms and Lettering" by J.M. Bergling.
This book was in pretty rough shape and quite a bit of money for something
that I had no definite plan for.  The book is falling apart and is extremely fragile.
But it's beauty is in it's patina, and the marks from the original owner who used it
as it was intended, as a guide to engravers.

I was drawn to it because I was in awe of the artists' work.
Knowing full well that for them to create such beauty that they had to have passion
for what they did.  The monograms, motifs and designs are absolutely exquisite.

Often people think because I am an artist that I can create anything.
Yes, that could be a possibility.
But, I have discovered that I choose how I create because it truly makes me happy.
It's like enjoying a great book and not wanting to put it down.
Passion drives me to create the way I do and we all create differently.
I am in awe of the many, many artists who create the way they do because
they do it with passion.

May we all have passion for what we do!

* a dash of colour *

I have completed the base coat on this wee one!

There was a great debate in my house wether he should have hair or not.
So, he sat on my studio desk for quite some time while I pondered the options.
I decided that I had to go with my vision...
otherwise he would run the risk of never being finished.

He really is starting to take shape,
and I really must think of a name for him very soon.

Enjoy!

* waiting *

This little lady is gracefully waiting to be finished.
She is not the only one!
I spent the afternoon working on her hair
and now the rest of her is waiting for some details.

She is just part of what I have been up to lately!

I am still finishing up my other figure.
( see my post "a helpful reminder")
That sweet little guy actually got more detail himself today
which included a pair of shoes and some socks.

My designs for my 2010 collection of Christmas Ornaments
are almost ready to go to final illustration.
(I know some of you think this is really early for Christmas,
but in the design world I might be running a bit late.)

I am sketching in my sketch book constantly
and I have a million ideas spinning around in my head
with not enough time to do everything I want to do.
Thus, I am not very good about waiting
and
really wish I had more
grace!
